The short version
We built FemWiseIQ because women deserve access to real research about their own bodies. That only works if you trust us with your information. Here is our promise:
- We do not sell your data — not to advertisers, data brokers, or anyone else.
- We do not share your identity with our AI providers. Your name, email, and account identifiers stay on our systems. Only de-identified health context (for example, age range, life stage, condition names, and the topic you are asking about) is used to personalize AI-powered insights.
- You control your data. You can export it, delete it, or close your account.
- We do not use your data to train third-party AI models for those providers’ general models. Your conversations and health information are not fed into third-party model training as described in our agreements with those providers.
- Some “saved” content stays on your device only — for example, certain items in Track → Insights → Saved for you are stored only in your browser until you clear site data; they are not synced to our servers (see Section 2).
- Optional product-improvement signals — when we enable this feature, we may store de-identified summaries of successful Ask answers and post-log insights on our systems to improve the product for everyone. Those records do not include your name, email, or account ID; questions are stored only as non-reversible hashes together with catalog health topics you have saved and coarse profile tags (see Section 3).
The sections below explain how we collect, use, protect, and share information in full detail.
1. What we are (and what we are not)
FemWiseIQ is a consumer wellness and education product. We help you explore peer-reviewed research about hormonal health and related topics and relate it to the profile and logs you choose to provide. We are in the same broad category as health journals, cycle-tracking apps, and personal wellness tools.
We are not a healthcare provider. We do not diagnose, treat, or prescribe. Nothing in FemWiseIQ replaces professional medical advice. AI features synthesize and organize published research and your saved context — they do not replace clinical judgment.
2. What information we collect
Information you provide
| Category | Purpose | Examples |
|---|---|---|
| Account information | Create and secure your account | Email, name (if provided), credentials |
| Demographics & life stage | Personalize content and research relevance | Age, life stage (e.g. perimenopause) |
| Health conditions | Tailor research and context | Conditions you add (e.g. PCOS, ADHD) |
| Symptom logs | Patterns and personalization | Symptoms, severity, dates |
| Cycle data | Phase-related context | Period dates, flow, cycle notes you enter |
| Medications & supplements | Safer, relevant context in answers | Names and details you choose to save |
| Lab values (if you enter them) | Educational context | Values you type in (we do not store original lab documents — see below) |
| Onboarding & preferences | Tailor the experience | Goals, lifestyle selections, comfort preferences |
| Search & Ask queries | Deliver requested research-backed answers | Questions you submit in the product |
Device-only information (not synced to our servers)
Some features store content only on your phone or browser (for example, in local storage). It does not upload to FemWiseIQ unless we describe a separate sync feature in this policy.
| Feature | What stays local | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Track → Insights → “Saved for you” | Short summaries of recent Ask answers and post-log blurbs you see in that list | Cleared if you clear site data or app storage; not backed up to your FemWiseIQ account |
Optional de-identified insight signals (on our servers)
When we turn on this capability, we may create aggregate records to help us understand which topics and conditions drive useful answers — so we can improve prompts, snippets, and features for all members.
| What we may store | What we do not store in this dataset |
|---|---|
| A one-way hash of your question (we cannot recover the exact wording from the hash alone) | Your name, email, or account ID |
| Catalog condition labels you have saved in the app (e.g. condition IDs from our list) | Free-text clinical notes you did not enter through our standard fields |
| Coarse tags such as life stage and structured stats about the answer (for example, how many sources were used) | The full raw AI response in every case (we keep a minimized summary) |
| Summaries of post-log insights tied to the same kind of tags | Anything that directly identifies you |
You can still delete your account as described in Section 7; personal account data is removed on our usual timeline. De-identified records are not linked to your account in our systems by design, so we cannot always remove a specific aggregate row when you delete your account — the same way aggregated analytics often work.
Information collected automatically
| Category | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Device / browser type | Compatibility and troubleshooting |
| General usage | Product improvement (see de-identification below) |
| Error and performance logs | Reliability and security |
What we do not collect (by design)
- Precise geolocation for tracking you day to day
- Biometric identifiers (fingerprints, face templates, etc.) through our app
- Payment card numbers — Stripe processes payments; we do not store your full card number
- Original lab document files — we only store values and metadata you enter (e.g. test name, value, unit, date), not uploaded scans, unless we explicitly launch a feature that says otherwise in this policy
2.5 Race, Ethnicity, and Background Information
We give you the option to share your racial, ethnic, or ancestry background. This is sensitive information under privacy law (sometimes called "special category data" under GDPR), and we treat it with extra care.
Why we ask
Hormonal research has historically excluded women — and women of color even more. Different populations show meaningfully different patterns in conditions like fibroids, PCOS, thyroid autoimmunity, MTHFR variants, and response to hormone replacement therapy. Sharing your background helps us match you to research most relevant to your population, and honestly flag where research is structurally limited.
How we handle it
- Sharing is optional. You can complete onboarding without sharing this information. You can update or remove it from Settings at any time.
- It is stored separately from your identity. Your background information is kept on a separate database table from your name and email. Re-identification requires an explicit join — a single, monitorable operation.
- It is never sold, shared, or used for advertising. Period.
- It is sent to AI providers only as a de-identified research-matching tag. For example, if you identify as Black with Caribbean ancestry, the AI receives a tag like
population_context: black, caribbean— never your name, email, or raw selections alongside identifying information. - You consent each time the policy changes. When this policy is updated in a way that materially affects how we handle your background data, we will ask you to re-consent before applying the new terms.
What this is not used for
FemWiseIQ does not make decisions about your access, pricing, treatment recommendations, or any other aspect of the service based on your race or ethnicity. This data is used solely for research-matching purposes. We do not infer biological characteristics from background information — race and ethnicity are social and ancestral signals that proxy for genetic ancestry, environmental exposure, and historical access to healthcare, not biological categories.
How to remove
You can remove your background information at any time through Settings → Background → Remove this information. Removal is immediate and your data will no longer be used for population-stratified research matching after removal.
3. How we use your information
We use information only for purposes that support the service and our legal obligations:
- Provide the product — profiles, logs, and preferences power personalized research views, Ask FemWise, and related features.
- Improve the product — we may use aggregated, de-identified analytics so we cannot reasonably identify you. When the insight library feature described in Section 2 is enabled, we may append de-identified records after certain successful Ask interactions (for signed-in members) and after some post-log insights, using hashed questions and catalog tags — never your account ID in that dataset.
- Communicate with you — account, security, subscription, and (if you opt in) product emails.
- Process payments — via Stripe under their terms.
- Security and abuse prevention — to protect accounts and our systems.
- Legal compliance — when required by law, and where permitted we will notify you when we can.
We do not use your personal information to sell advertising space based on your health profile.
4. Artificial intelligence and your data
FemWiseIQ uses AI to help summarize and apply peer-reviewed research to de-identified context you have chosen to save in the product.
What may be included in prompts to AI providers (de-identified)
Examples (not exhaustive): life stage; approximate age band; condition labels you added; medication names (not dosages unless you explicitly include them in a field we send — we design flows to avoid sending unnecessary detail); symptoms relevant to your question; and the text of your question.
What we do not send to AI providers
- Your name
- Your email address
- Your user ID or other direct account identifiers
- Payment information
- Raw documents you have not chosen to have processed under a specific, described flow
We assemble context on our servers before calling an AI API so that the vendor receives a prompt that is not tied to your identity in our systems.
Providers
We may use vendors such as Anthropic (Claude) and Google (e.g. for embeddings or related processing). We select configurations and agreements intended to limit use of your content for training public models, consistent with our vendor terms. We will update this section if our providers or practices materially change.
5. Third-party services
| Service | Role | Data involved |
|---|---|---|
| Supabase | Database and authentication | Account and app data you store with us; hosted in the United States per our configuration |
| Vercel (or similar) | Application hosting | Technical request data needed to serve the app |
| Stripe | Payments | Payment and billing data under Stripe’s privacy policy and PCI program |
| AI providers | AI responses / embeddings | De-identified prompts as described in Section 4 |
We do not add cross-site advertising pixels inside the product for behavioral ad networks. If we use minimal analytics, we will describe it here and favor privacy-preserving options.
6. We do not sell your personal information
FemWiseIQ does not sell your personal information as that term is commonly defined under U.S. state privacy laws (including “sharing” for cross-context behavioral advertising). We do not sell lists to data brokers. Our business model is subscriptions and related offerings, not sale of user data.
7. Data retention
- Active account: We retain your data so the service works as you expect.
- Canceled subscription: Your account and data generally remain so you can return; Pro-only features may be turned off per plan terms.
- Account deletion: We delete personal data associated with your account within a reasonable period (target: within 30 days), subject to backup rotation described below.
- Aggregated analytics that cannot reasonably identify you may be retained.
- De-identified insight signals (Section 2) may be retained for as long as we need them to improve the product, subject to our internal retention schedules; they are not tied to your account identity.
- Backups: Database backups may persist for up to approximately 90 days; deleted data ages out of backups over that window.
8. Your rights
Everyone
- Access — review profile and in-app data we show you.
- Export — request an export where we offer it in Settings or by email.
- Delete — delete your account in-app or by contacting privacy@femwiseiq.ai.
- Correct — update your profile and logs in the product.
- Right to remove background information. You can remove your race/ethnicity selection at any time through Settings, with no impact on your other data or service access.
U.S. state privacy rights (including California)
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to know, delete, correct, opt out of certain processing, and not be discriminated against for exercising rights. We do not sell your personal information as defined above. California residents may have additional rights under the CCPA/CPRA for sensitive personal information; we describe health-related data consistent with those categories.
How to exercise rights: Use in-app tools where available, or email privacy@femwiseiq.ai. We may verify your identity before fulfilling requests. We aim to respond within 45 days where applicable, with a possible extension as permitted by law.
Other regions
If you use FemWiseIQ from outside the United States, your information is processed in the United States and possibly other countries where our subprocessors operate. If we must provide a different lawful basis or contact under GDPR or other laws, we will describe that in an addendum or region-specific notice when we formally offer the product in those regions.
9. Wearable and connected health data (future)
If we launch integrations (e.g. Apple Health, Health Connect, wearables):
- Integration will be opt-in.
- You will control which categories sync.
- Data will be protected under this policy; raw streams will not be sent to AI providers unless we clearly describe an exception.
- You may disconnect and request deletion of synced data.
We will update this policy before those features go live.
10. Age requirement and minors
FemWiseIQ is intended only for adults. You must be at least 18 years old, or the age of majority in your state or country of residence (whichever is higher), to create an account and use the service.
We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If we learn that we have collected personal information from someone under 18, we will delete that information promptly, except where we are legally required to retain a minimal record (for example, a security or fraud log that does not continue to offer the service to that person).
If you believe someone under 18 has provided us with personal information, contact privacy@femwiseiq.ai.
(If your product later serves certain teens with a separate, expressly governed program, update this section with counsel — do not rely on this template alone.)
11. Security
We use administrative, technical, and organizational measures appropriate to the nature of the data, including:
- Encryption in transit (HTTPS/TLS) and encryption at rest where supported by our infrastructure
- Access controls and, where applicable, database-level isolation (e.g. row-level security)
- Sensitive demographic data (such as racial/ethnic background) is stored on a separate database table from your name and email, providing structural separation between your identity and your most sensitive health-related context.
- Secure handling of secrets and keys
- Limited data sent to AI vendors, as described above
No method of storage or transmission is 100% secure. If we discover a breach that materially affects your personal information, we will notify you without undue delay and as required by applicable law (many U.S. state laws require notification within a specific timeframe; we describe timelines in notices we send).
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as our product and the law evolve. For material changes, we will:
- Update the “Last updated” date
- Provide notice by email or in-app message when practical before or when the change takes effect
- Not apply material reductions to your privacy rights retroactively without appropriate consent where the law requires it
Continued use after notice may constitute acceptance where permitted; if you disagree, you may delete your account.
